Travel lighter when you come with a dog. Bowl, basket, blanket and food are already in place — and for muddy paws there is a dedicated wash basin in the entrance.
Two bowls for water and food, a cosy basket beside the tiled stove, soft blankets for the sofa — and a handful of dry food in stock in case the travel bag stayed in the car.
We like dogs almost more than some of our relatives — and the house is set up accordingly. By the entrance, a dedicated dog wash basin waits for whatever sticks to four paws after a loop around the Loser.
Fully fenced, completely dog-safe. You make breakfast — your dog makes garden. Everyone is happy.
The garden wrapping the house is securely fenced — no gap, no missing slat, no worry. The dog gets to do what country dogs ought to: sniff, chase butterflies, sun a belly on the south terrace, dig a small hole in memory of grandmother (not too deep, please).
Nature here doesn't begin after a drive — it lies just beyond the garden gate. An all but endless web of trails that tells a different story in every season.
The lake loop around Lake Altaussee is 7.5 km, almost flat and walkable year-round — perfect for the daily round with your dog. Leashes are required around the lake to protect wildlife, but in the shallow bays of the eastern shore there is room to splash. An official dog beach can be found at neighbouring Lake Grundlsee in Gößl. €30 per animal per night, and the hallway already has the right carpet.
